We are delighted to note that for 2016, we will be having not one but two fabulous hosts at the grand Gala Final in October! The inimitable Bruce Devlin will be joined by the brilliant Jean Johansson to guide you through what is sure to be a night to remember! Learn a little more about your fantastic hosts here!
Bruce Devlin
Bruce Devlin left Dundee a very long time ago before finally settling in Edinburgh. After various stints in regular employment, Bruce had been in the world of comedy since 1999, which is handy because the thing he got into most trouble at school with (his tongue, it wouldn’t halt) has taken him all over the world. He regularly delights audiences in New York, the Middle East, mainland Europe and of course up and down the UK.
Along with having being revered and reviled, he has won industry respect and critical acclaim for his work as a stand-up comic, presenter and writer.
Involved with many charities such as Waverley Care, The STV Children’s Appeal, Barnardo’s and Children First, Bruce is also a passionate animal rights supporter as his beloved smidgen has been so much more than just pet dog!
A combination of the above made Bruce the go to choice to host the ICON Awards in 2015 and we are delighted to have him back again in 2016.
TV Presenter and Journalist Jean Johansson is a gorgeous Glaswegian who burst onto our screens after winning a nationwide search for a presenter. Her first TV appearance came at the age of 18 when Jean presented UKOOL, a magazine style programme for CBBC.
Jean is now a reporter on “The One Show” on BBC1 and is also presenting for “The Postcode Lottery”, which gives her the weekly task of knocking on the doors of unsuspecting winners to award them with a £30,000 prize. This is supported by a countrywide billboard, TV, radio and print campaign, which makes Jean one of the most recognisable faces in Scotland.
Jean will also be the roving reporter on “Animal Park” on BBC, which returns to BBC1 in the Summer.
Away from work, Jean is a self -confessed book worm, movie geek and musical theatre enthusiast! She has successfully bought, developed and sold several properties and is something of a football expert, having been with her husband, professional football player turned coach – Jonathan Johansson. Her other passion is her four-year-old son Jonathan who they nickname “Junior”!
